About Jack

I was born and raised in Omaha, NE where my passions growing up included art, writing, soccer, and archery. After graduating from Skutt Catholic High School in 2000 I went down to Springfield, Missouri for college and received my BA in English with a minor in Philosophy. 

After graduation I attended hair school at Missouri College of Cosmetology, and I was a hairstylist for 5 years. During that time I learned so many people’s stories from all walks of life. 

I also learned what poverty felt like. 

The constant balancing act of trying to pay bills, your basic needs, while receiving bottom of the barrel low wages is exhausting to both the body and soul of a human being. In the richest country of the world, no one should go through that. There were times I worked three jobs just to get by. 

Upon the birth of my son, I knew I had to change something. With him to raise, multiple jobs were no longer an option. I went to Jan’s Dog Grooming School, and I received my career. 

As my skills refined in both the art and business of dog grooming, I craved for more. I dreamed of opening my own business. However, I was contracted with a non-compete. I chose to move back north in 2015 to be closer to family and follow my dreams.  

In Iowa, I restarted my life. I opened Loess Hills Dog Grooming. I am currently the longest running dog grooming business in the Glenwood area. 

Every job I have done in my time was an act of service to my clients. Whether it was working retail, as a barista, as a dishwasher, as a hairstylist, or currently as a dog groomer, my life has been dedicated to serving.

As inequality has gone on the rise, I have decided to finally expand my mission to serve to you, the people of Iowa. Too many of our politicians cater to the elite, lie to the people, and try to control the population through fear. Simply put, they are living a different reality from you.  

I have been in the trenches of poverty. I have seen and felt the hardship and uncertainty as many of you. I also understand the needs of the middle class, since that is the world I grew up in. 

The corruption of many politicians, easily bribed through campaign donations must come to an end. 

WE are the ones who hire them. It is OUR votes that give them their power. They should be working for US. 

As State Representative, I will use my voice to ensure the your freedoms are protected and revive the American Dream here in our state.
